ACTION

ACTION
    Om shanti!
We are considering the word ‘action’ not in isolation but with reference to the TEAAM i.e. Thoughts – Emotions – Attitude – Action – Memory indicating all physical, verbal and mental actions.

No action can take place without the process of thinking, feeling and developing attitude and decision making for the action (all mental actions). Also, the actions are followed by memory of actions as well as the resultant feelings good or bad again a mental exercise. Repetitive process of actions will form the habit pattern and result in inculcating belief system again a mental action. After having particular habit pattern and belief system, the decision making process is compromised and thoughts are followed by actions directly. Here starts the trouble, because, now the action is not with proper decision making (mental action) by intellect but by habit. If we create good thoughts in our minds they create good pleasant feelings, develop the right attitude and our actions are also pleasing and for the benefit of the concerned. To have good thoughts, one must have a right belief system in the form of “Sanskar”. Quite often our actions are not based on what is, or what we feel right or wrong, but on what others feel about the actions; e.g. while writing on the topic ‘action’ I may write on ‘what it is’,  ‘what it should be’, ‘what will please the audience’ or  ‘what I want to portray for having social acceptance’.

‘What it is’ is a statement of fact or my perception. ‘What it should be’ is a philosophy or my belief system. ‘What will please the audience’ is an adjustment or compromise. However, ‘What I want to portray’ is actually an effort to create an impression i.e. my ego or selfishness.

Sometimes, it is necessary to follow a particular path including selfish one with some purpose in mind depending on the situation. In such a case, there may be an apparent anomaly between our belief systems and the need of the hour. One should understand “this is life”. However, the broader concept should be kept at the back of our mind viz “O God, please grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference--------------AND THE WISDOM CAN ONLY BE OBTAINED BY DEVELOPING S.Q. THROUGH MEDITATION i.e. TUNING WITH ALMIGHTY, EXPRESSING GRATITUDE and allowing your soul to streamline with Universal energy.
